  2. on a related note, is there a way to convert from 23.97 to 29.97 w/o losing much quality? i've been ripping VCDs using the NTSCFilm template and they'd play fine on my computer, but my new standalone chokes on them. rather than going out and renting/ripping about 30 movies all over again, i'd love to just up the frame rate and re-burn them.

seinman, if your DVD Player supports SVCD or (X)SVCD, you can encode it to that and keep the 23.976 frame-rate with 3:2 Pulldown (It will bring it up to 29.97 keeping the same number of frames so you won't lose quality, and a 23.976 frame-rate will stay the same internally, but is outputted as with a 29.97 Frame-rate). This way your file will play perfect in your Player (If your player supports (X)SVCD).

    Hope That Helps!!! :P

  4. Pulldown doesn't work with MPG1 so you are pretty much stuck re-ripping and re-encoding those old discs. I never found a good enough reason to use VCD Film, gave me more problems than good (saw no good in it actually).

I know it doesn't support 3:2 Pulldown, that's why I was telling you to encode to SVCD (Film Template) as this enables Pull-down bringing the frame-rate up to 29.97 (3:2 Pulldown will not give you jumpy frame-rate because it's internally 23.976 Frame-rate and 3:2 Pulldown tells your player to play it back as 29.97 even though it's really 23.976).

    Hope That Helps!!!

  6. I can convert from 29.97 - 25 No problem. Open the Vid file in Vitua Dub, and move to end frame. Write how many seconds it is(don`t really need that info) Go to framerate of video and change to 25, now go to end frame again . Write down the new amount of time(convert to seconds). You need CoolEdit Pro 2.0 .Extract the Audio to a Wave file.
And use tranform and strech option and change the length to the 25fps time. Load the vid into TMPgenc along with the new audio. Select in advanced options DO NOT FRAME RATE CHANGE. And Hey You've converted it to Pal 25 frames. Sounds a bit complicated at first but if you do a search through the forums you`'' find guides for doing this
