Hey guys, i'm just a newbie. is it possible that you help me to find the best dvd to svcd software in the internet.
    it has to be:
    Free
    easy to use
    good feature
    reliable
    easy to adjust
    subtitle/no subtitle
    great performance.....

hehehe, after all, there would be not much software that will have all the criteria, but at least mind telling me why do you choose and use the software as the best..
    thanks

Use DVD2SVCD. Best programm I ever used.

Excellent Quality. But depends on the Mpeg Encoder you use with that prog.

Thatīs the only thing that isnīt free at this Tool. Youīll have to buy(or find it somewhere else) an Mpeg encoder. Tmpeg or CCE.

yup, i heard a lot that dvd2svcd is the best. but we still have to get cce or tmpeg that is not free... or is there any place that we can download it for free?
i sure want to try it as soon as possible...
by the way from your experience, how much time will it take to rip the dvd? 12 hours is too long, i guess...
i heard someone can get it done faster than that.. please share your experience...

Iīm new on dvd2svcd, too and itīs the best coverting-tool ever.
Used DVDx before. Itīs OK for "quick" copies but hasnīt all the features included.
Of course cce is not for free but you can download a demo-version that adds the cce-logo into your movie (very ugly).
I prefer something called "buy software". ever heard these words? but maybe you will find a tiny little prog that will help you solving the logo problem. I heard of it
btw, on my computer it takes about 3-5 hrs to convert 1,5 to 2 hrs movies. think it depends on your processor, harddisk, dvd and so on. yust try it.

It depends on what encoder and settings you're using. Ive done quite many SVCD's for my kids, and as these movies are usually ~80 minutes, I can make a 2 CD copy using CBR 2500. Using CCE the video encoding stage takes ~ 90 minutes on a Thunderbird 1200, not too bad

I've never used dvd2svcd so I can't comment on it good or bad. But you can do everything without it and get the same results.

    I use: smartripper>dvd2avi>tmpg>bbmepg>vcdez

I think saying one program is better then another is like saying that a hot blonde naked stripper is better then a hot brunette naked stripper. It all depends on what you yourself like.

I myself think TMPG is better then CCE. But saying that doesnt mean that it is better. Try a few for your self and see what you like better.

But if I have to vote my vote goes to TMPG
