  1. I have a Samsing DVD-M405 in Australia (region 4).

The better half purchased "Green Card region 2" from blackstar.co.uk so I applied the hack as found here at vcdhelp.com.
No problems, hack worked, dvd plays great.

A few months later (which is now). she decides to get me Rambo: First Blood from blackstar.co.uk again as a little gift.

Problem: the samsung dvd-m405 won't allow me to play Rambo all.

It gives me a message saying to check the region code.
I can't skip fwd and I know the dvd itself is OK because it will play on my computer.

Help please . . . why will it play one region 2 dvd and not the other?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. If the player halts on the FBI Warnings, press Forward Search x2 or faster.
If this does not work it could be RCE - region content encryption
    causing the problem.

    luck

  3. Thanks for the quick reply.

The Samsung doesn't need to be hacked every time.

I can play the region 2 "Green Card" dvd anytime without having to hack again. Last night I played the "Green Card" dvd and then tried to follow up with First Blood - but it wouldn't work.

What's RCE? and how does it prevent a region 4 dvd player playing a region 2 disk?

  4. Thanks mate.

    I've tried the fwd search x2 - didn't work.

Is there a way around RCE?
and why does it work on my PC with ASUSDVD 2000?

  5. The DVD-M405/105 when hacked is reported to set the region setting
to zero. While this allows you to play any region DVD without changing
the hack again, it does mean that sooner or later you are going to
    get king hit by RCE.

RCE stands for Region Content Encryption and was developed
as an industry counter measure against DVD player hacking.
Simply put, RCE DVD's will refuse to play on many DVD players
that are hacked to the region free or zero setting. You must
either own a DVD player than can change its region setting to
match what the DVD wants, or have one that simply ignores RCE.

This is the only explanation I can think of. Why not email your
UK DVD provider and ask if Rambo (region 2) has RCE protection.
