have you tried to sync audio/video in virtual dub? have you played with the delay, skew setting in the audio menu of virtual dub?have you tried extracting the audio from the divx file as a wav?then paste it back in.sometimes when changing the frame rate in a avi to match audio duration does not work because there is a audio offset try 300 in the audio interleaving menu of virtual dub. once the avi audio is in sync it should be in sync if you convert to mpeg.works for me every time

You dont say what your converting it too ?

You can load AVI's with VBR into TMPGEnc it will convert them without problems, it will also handle AC3 (With codec installed)

The problems start when there are junk frames in the original.

2nd CD ? so is the original 1 AVI which you split in half ?, did you convert the whole AVI then split the mpeg ?
