  1. OK, I finally managed to get my PC set up to rip DVDs but now I'm having a problem with audio sync of my Mpeg.

This is how I made my Mpeg:

    1. Used Smart Ripper to rip the DVD.
    2. Used DVD2AVI (Version 1.76) to downmix the audio to 44.1kHz
(Audio menu, select 48 -> 44.1 and chose High then went to Dolby Digital menu and select Decode and Dolby Surround Downmix.)
    3. Saved project as a .d2v file and a .wav file
    4. Loaded the video and audio into TMPGEnc Plus
    5. Loaded an NTSC VCD template
    6. Saved as a Mpeg

Now, I tried to rectify the out of sync audio using the How to... but I had no luck so now I was going to try and make my Mpeg following the Newbie How To... but I can't find the version of DVD2AVI which lets me save the audio track as a MP3. Does anyone have a link to this version ??

Or, does anyone have any other ideas how I could sort out the audio sync with the Mpeg that I already made ??

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is the first file I have ever ripped and it's taking me ages to get the hang of it.

    Thanks.

  2. If you are having trouble with dvd2avi you could always try the program CladDVD XP. It is a ripping program that has a frameserving option allowing it to automatically use dvd2avi to create your .d2v and .wav files. This is the program I use all the time and I think it is great. Never had any problems with it. Hope this helps.

Let go back to your first step. How you rip DVD with smart ripper movie mode or file mode? On occationally, ripping in file mode and use TMPGEnc will cause sync issue.
    2. In DVD2avi, I don't check on Dolby Surrond (downmix) and I don't have any sync issue, so it might help if you uncheck that option. And about downsampling audio from 48 to 44.1 khz, I'd prefer using toolame (apply with TMPGEnc) becuz it takes so long with DVD2avi.

All other steps should be okay and not the cause of sync issue, but how did you burn your mpeg1 file to VCD?

With Smartripper 2.41 there were apparently some sync issues with the d2v files created with DVD2AVI. I use 2.40 (installed as part of the Gordian Knot package) and have never once experienced any sync problems.

    ya_jai,
I'm not trying to be a smartass, but you did mean ssrc instead of toolame for the downsampling right?
    Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack

  6. No you are absoluetly not, It might be my fault that didnt give all detail.

First I leave audio as 48 KHz when using DVD2avi, which I have to downsampling and encode at 224kbit in TMPGEnc but I use toolame as a third party for audio encoder. I might use a wrong tech word here
