I have an awesome copy of Attack of the Clones on 3 SVCDS and I want to convert them to 1 DVD.
What is the best way to do this?
All I want to do is retain the quality of the SVCD.

    Thanks

I would reencode to DVD standard. Maybe instead of increasing the resolution to 720x480/576 I would use the dvd standard 352x480/576 and a kinda high bitrate(you could use a bitrate calculator to get the highest possible bitrate). Try a short sample and see how it looks.

You could also try this, no reencoding but it doesn't work on players and it is a bit tricky www.vcdhelp.com/svcddvdr.htm

Or wait a month and buy the DVD .

Yes it is better to use half D1 resolution, than the full.
But reencdoing, a SVCD, gives always a bader picture quality, because if you re encode a already compressed movies you get with every step a badder quality.
When re encoding, with 3000 kb/s this does not make the picture look better!!!

I recomered to use the header tirck, and try if it works with your dvd-player

Of course wont the quality be better but it wont be that much worse if you use a decent encoder and use the highest bitrate you would fit on a dvdr.

  5. I think the rip you have may have started with me a couple of months ago
If so, the initial rip and encode was done with dvd2svcd with CCE and a 4 pass VBR off of the DVD pre-release. Don't know if that helps or not. If i remember right the max bitrate was about 2500......you may be able to transcode at 3000.
