  1. I HAVE OWNED THE DVDR 103 PIONEER FOR SOME TIME NOW AND STILL YET TO SEE IT WRITE AT 2X,
UOGRADED THE FIRMWARE TO VERSION 1.90, TRYED SEVERAL TYPES OF MEDIA, NONE OF WHICH WORK AT 2X, ALTHOUGH VERBATIM GUARANTEE THERE DISKS TO WRITE AT 2X, WHICH MAKES ME THINK ITS THE WRITER, DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM,
    OR CAN ANYONE OFFER ADVICE

  2. I'm a newbie in DVDR burning but I have the 104. I burned my first DVD this morning using Nero and I noticed the same thing, writing at 1x. What's up with that?

Have you tried Apple DVD-R media? It's expensive but less expensive than Pioneer DVD-R discs. Apple and Pioneer should be written with 2x speed. At least, that's my observation. I have not worked with Verbatim but I worked with really cheap DVD-R/RW media and they were written with 1x speed only.
