  1. Hi,

I have a Hi-8 video camera, and want to preserve the films onto DVD for long-term storage. I purchased Pinacle Studio DC 10plus to record the films into my PC, and produce an MPEG-2 file from it (like 4 GB large!). I also have Nero version 5.5.8.2 to burn CDs and DVDs.
So I search a DVD-writer for my PC, and software to include 'chapters' into the DVD so we can browse quickly to the different scenes/stories on the films.
Some people recommended the Philips DVD-writers because of the higher chances they have to remain/become the long-term DVD standards over the world...
I found Philips DVDRW228 as internal writer, and software like myDVD, DVDit, ...

    Thanks !

  3. Baldrick,
the info message about this DVD-RW writer from Sony doesn't mention
anything about software that can go along with it. Or do I need to consider
these two (hardware & software) to be independent ? I have Nero to burn something onto the DVD's, so I suppose that's enough for the Sony drive. Just some advise on which editing software to use so that I can add easily an index page on the DVD for the scenes in the films I am registering.

    Thx !
