Due to Pioneers recent firmware update on their DVD-RW 104, I’ve been having audio problems with my discs. DVD-Rs encoded and burned in the same way I’ve done successfully in the past no longer have any audio on my standalone player post-update. These discs play fine on my parents DVD player. But, discs burned with AC3 sound still play fine on mine. I’ve tried all kinds of settings on my player to mess with the audio output, with no luck. Since my player can no longer read the audio encoded with tooLame and TMPGenc, but can read AC3, I’m wondering if encoding the audio on my captures to Dolby Digital 2 channel would work? I’ve read in other posts that this would be possible with SoftEncode or BeSweet. Would the player read the audio in the same way as AC3 and, therefore, work? I’m trying to avoid spending more money on a new DVD player (currently have a Sony DVP-S360). Any other thoughts?
