  1. I have downloaded a DixV file that has a framesize of 352 X 288. I read the how to on resizing the video to get the 720 X 576 size to fit the TV screen but unless I set the Video Arrange Method to "Center (keep ratio) the picture quality is awfull. If I set it at "Center" I have to set right on top of the TV. The FPS of the DixV is 12,500 so I set the "aspect ratio" at 4:3 PAL. and set the "source ratio aspect" at 1:1 VGA.

We have a 52" regular TV but they look pretty crappy on a 26'' as well. Am I missing something or do I need to find a larger file format to download, or is my expectation to high??? I just figured that the quality would be that of a VHS tape or better. Oh I am attempting to make this file into a SVCD.

a file at 352x288 and 12.5 fps a second - I would not bother converting it to anything else. the quality can only go downhill.

  3. D_Knife....Thank you, I have spent two weeks reading and trying to convert this to no luck.....What size video would you consider to be the minium to download and is this 352 X 288 just for watching on a computer???

well this is a very subjective question - personally I download and use 352x288 videos although I try not to get frame rates as low as 12 normally I prefer not to go under the PAL standard of 25.

I also understand that with a small frame size video like this that it will not look as good as a DVD - It's all about perspective and acceptance.

That said some hard numbers -
Well with Divx 4 and 5 there are a number of movies and files that come in at much larger frame sizes - like 640x480 and so on. These usually convert into a SVCD standard without to much problems or degradation.

Again it ALL comes down to YOU and what YOU consider to be acceptable quality
    I hope this helps

Ok thank you for the great info....One last question then if you don't mind, all the files I have tried to find are on Kazaa and it seems that all of them are in that format which I guess are great for watching on a computer screen but not worth a hoot for TV. Could you point me in the right direction to find some movies that you think I could make into a descent SCVD.....Thank again
