  1. I have tried Ulead video studio and pinnacle Studio. These are huge softwares. I wonder if there is anything smaller (editting only, preferably), like Virtualdub for MPEG files around. I do not want overlapping features on a same computer. I use Sclive to capture, TMGPEnc to convert, Philips VCD Toolkit to author, CloneCd to burn my VCDs. these are all unique and handy. the only thing i missed is an handy editing software. Please don't suggest me to edit MPEGs, cause i still want to back record my edited DVs onto miniDV tapes for archive.

I like Edit Studio from puremotion http://www.puremotion.com. It has an easy to learn interface, and seems to do a pretty good job with basic editing tasks. I haven't tried any kind of fancy dissolves or other transitions yet, so I can't comment on those. It is nice because you can build a DV project to a file, or back to a camera/deck. You can also convert to MPEG for use with DVD, SVCD, VCD, other computer based formats, etc. They have a free full function demo, and the price isn't too high if you like it. Service from them has been realy good too. And the quality of the finished mpeg for DVD is very high (if your source is high quality).
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
