  1. I've tried Win XP when it got out. I always had that blue screen, after consulting microsoft techweb, I discover my blue screen was due to a driver, and they told me to check if all my drivers were win xp certified. Of course almost none of them were. So I switched back to Win2k. But since sp1 for xp is out, and every company has their winxp certified drivers out too, I was wondering if there is still known problems with XP (I mean big issues)? Cuz I remember that XP boot a lot faster than win2k and has that cool customazible GUI. but I need stability when encoding DVD.

  2. Check the sites of the makers of your hardware for XP drivers. It has been some time now and most should have them out if they intend to offer them.

WinXP is still as a compatibility problem in lots of ways even upgraded to WinXP SP1. I wouldn't install it, generally the drivers still won't work.

Microsoft usually provides the drivers for any device in the computer. It is the programs with the devices as the problem, not compatible.

If a driver does work, there will be still be problems. Bugs, errors and computer crashes may occur. My video card CD installation is still not compatible and the WinXP capture drivers only works partly, however not perfect. The Creator 4 CD burner program won't work either.

Currently, I am having a bad time with WinXP SP1 with Norton AntiVirus pro. They won't work well together. I will have to get the computer back to the orginal factory settings.

To unstall WinXP SP1 is a disaster going to happen as it won't get the computer back as it was before I got the SP1. I am going to have a lot of work getting the hard drive re-fomatted and everything to re-install again. This is the only way with my Compaq computer.

I might just as well get rid of WinXP and and install Windows 2000.

  4. go with windows xp.. although, some compatibility issues remain..

such as easy cd creator doesnt work.. but who gives a shit about that shitty burning software? only newbies & faggots use it.

norton anti-virus.. i really dont care, i dont use anti-virus software.. its a waste of harddrive space & resources..

drivers are another thing though, it has been a year since xp's release.. go and see if you can find drivers for your devices.. you really dont *need* them for every device.. for example.. your modem may not use manufacturer drivers, but it'll work with the xp driver.. same goes with sound cards.. but as for video cards, you wanna have a good driver.. if you're using a geforce go to the nvidia and get the terminator driver..

but by all means go with windows xp.. it really is a superb operating system compared to win2k & 98se..
