  1. I have been trying to burn VCD's (using Nero 5.5 ) on my Yamaha CD Burner (model # at home, at work now) and have been unable to get them to play on my stand alone player - Toshiba Model SD-3109 although they will play on the DVD Rom drive on my PC.
I checked some info on this site and it was a little conflicting (some people can get them to play, some can't, depends on the media you recorded it to, etc.). Called Toshiba - big help

    Anyone have any advice?

  3. according to the dvd compatibility list on this site (look for the link on the left of this page) your dvd player wont play cdr's so it doesnt matter what media you use . none will work cos your player doesnt have a dual focus laser which you need to play homemade vcd's or music cd's. hope this helps!

A compatibility list has no meaning if only a few people have contributed, I have seen DVD players listed there which other people can get to work. New firmware upgrades etc make the list obsolete.

  5. I have at least gotten my Toshiba SD-3109 to recognize the disk I created (Memorex Platinum CDRW) with VDDEasy 1.1.2, but now I get a screen on the TV that says "VCD 2.0 player required. Please turn on PBC to show pictures". I found the playback control configuration on the DVD player setup and it is turned on. If I try to uncheck the option for PBC when I burn the disk, it will not work because VCDEasy says "You need to activate play back control to play MPEG pictures..."

The Toshiba even has a light on the panel that says "VCD". Does anybody know what I need to do to play the VCD?
