  1. I went to some stores today, trying some discs, and basically all of them either came out disc error, or recognized the disc as a music CD. One, an expensive zenith model got totally confused, it had the music cd menu, but played the video in the background --- but the menu wouldn't go away. I guess I had the wrong impression that some of these players already had more or less a file browser to select and play whatever file you want.

  2. ok, guess I haven't drawn a response, so I'll explain why I want this and see if that matters. Basically I've worn out the drives on 2 dreamcast systems playing media files. I have a lot of discs burnt in the selfboot dreamcast format, which includes an audio track as well as the data track. In order for these to be of any use on a dvd player, it must be capable of playing this type of media.
