Hmm, what you tell me there is very strange... But, i think you're doing something wrong, the brand of CD doesn't matter
there can be 2reasons for your problem
1)you're burning wrong
2) your DVD player isn't able to read CD's(VCD,SVCDs, CDiS)

I have the samsung 240-b, and I found what worked for me is , upgrade driver....phillips are finicky writers.
I use nero to burn my vcd's (cue/bin's)cause goldenhawk does not always work...even though it says successful
The only media that works consistently for me with the samsung/phillips is TDK. Other recommended for that manufacturer are phillips and Mitsui (sp?). TDK works 99% for me. Also, I burn one master at 2x with nero, and then copy that master at 2x with adaptec. Making multiple copies with nero almoast always kills all the copies but number 1. Works great every time copying the first nero master with adaptec.
Stay away from sony, memorex, verbatim, etc. All coasters.
PS just cause it says created successfully does not mean it is! check the first media right away on your cp, if it did not work, try a different one. TDK kicks!
Losts more info on vcdeasy.com
or maybe i read wrong, were you buring with a samsung, or just playing in a samsung... -
The Samsung 709 stand alone player has had many coments here...If you can watch the VCD on your PC...its not a burn problem...It could be a format problem...but since I have never ever had a format issue with Nero...
Common consensus is....It will play the Princo brand cdr (think its a generic at like curcuit city...or they are avail online ), and it will also play memorex....and some cdrw. One user stated that the only way to play on his was:
Insert the VCD and the player should start to load the disc. This can take up to a minute - but don't worry, it will recognise it. When it has recognised the disc, press the mode button on the remote and program the tracks in the order you want (you have to do this, because for some reason the player won't play the disc otherwise), once again the player will take up to a minute to start playing, but as I said before, if you wait it will run.
Hope that helps..... -
I fact, only a few CD-R medias can be read on the samsung 709 :
Vivastar & Princo, due to dye type :
Phthalocyanine 8 (PRINCO)
or
cyanine 0 (but only the vivastar !)
perhaps others...
But i leave in France and i can't find these cd-r's !!!!!!
Where can i find them ?
