i am a neewbie in the how to section in this site can i use
the convertion section" to dvd mpeg2 to play on my dvd standolone?can i put it on a regular disk like a vcd
please someone help ive tried everything

Best thing to do first is check out the DVD Player compatibility list and check what your player will play.
That way you can then decide what to go for.

Your question is a little confusing? Are you trying to take a DVD source and make a SVCD (you said MPEG2). You said you've tried everything but I don't know what 'everything' is

Try the guides to the left, also check out http://www.doom9.org and http://www.flexion.org/vcd

On the flexion.org site look under 'DVD Conversion' and find the online DVD to VCD guide. LOTS of screen shots and very detailed.

On the doom9.org site look under 'the guides' and then look for SVCD. You'll find a program DVD2SVCD. This is a GREAT program. It's a front end loader that will do everything for one. You'll also need to d/load CCE 2.5sp (there's a link for it right below the DVD2SVCD software bundle). It's a CCE demo, that puts a watermark/logo in the bottom right of your MPEG; but I hear there's a crack to remove it DVD2SVCD will run

vStrip -> DVD2AVI -> azith -> tooLame -> CCE -> bbMPEG -> VCDImager

im trying to convert a movie i downloaded that is in avi format and ive tried vcd and it doesnt work i know my dvd player does vcds so in the how to i saw avi to dvd mpeg2 will that work like on a normal cd or is that if u have a dvd burner im a little confused with it
i have a sony s 500d player
