When I use my DVD drive to play DVD's I can't hear the DVD audio from the headphone jack on the front of the drive but I can hear audio from the jack if I play an audio CD. Do the DVD drives just not play sound through the headphone jacks on the front of the drive?...

  2. When playing a DVD movie, all data is transferred through the system bus, and that includes audio. This is meant to keep people from copying the soundtrack through the headphone jack, whereas CD-ROMs (at least most) have no copy protection included. I haven't tried an audio DVD yet, but it will probably work the same way. the only thing you will hear out of the headphone jack is if oyu play an audio CD in the drive.

    Thanks!

I wanted to hear the sound from the DVD throught eh headphone jack because I just got a new set of speakers and the volume knob doesn't adjust for headphones and the sound from the computer is really low even when turned all the way up.

Any suggestions on how to increase the volume.
