  1. Now that the question about DVD collections is up, I was wondering what are some of your most prized dvd's. Take into account special features, etc. You all might have some that I haven't stumbled onto yet, so I'm interested in knowing.

No Fight Club lovers? What about se7en platinum series? Or Silence of the Lambs? These are some of my favs. The menu screen for Requium(spelling) for a Dream is really cool. What about Dark City and the game inside? Or T2 Ulitmate or whatever it's called? Of course I am amoung 15 million others who have The Matrix. I think that movie pushed DVDs over the edge in the US to some major acceptance in the mainstream.

  11. My favourite would have to be The Matrix or Gladiator.

WHAT IS YOUR WORST DVD AND WHY???

I LOVE those two movies, as well as T2 and Silence of the lambs... you have good taste in movies, sullen

Anyway,...another movie that's right up there with Fight Club and Se7en would have to be Pulp Fiction.

    2. Pulp
    3. Se7en
    i also like Heat..Taxi Driver, .....

for some reason, What Women Want actually caught my attention....heh

  19. My fav's are T2, The fifth element, Save the last dance, The professional, and my worst dvd i got is Traffic, not that it's not good, which it is. It's that you can only watch it once, and the first time I watched it was after my purchase. Also love The matrix, tho I don't have it yet, and Hackers, which i'm still looking for, but i got the dvdrip.asf, low quality... : D

I'm still thinking about what my favorite DVD's are, but I can say by far the worst movie on DVD currently available is Timecode. The format of the film does not transfer to television well. I can imagine being able or interested enough to follow the story in a theater, but on television, especially on a 4:3 television, the damn thing is just UBER-BUSY.

And I dont think they bothered to transfer the digital video to film, so the picture just has this harshness to it, with the DVD over-emphasizes.

Fight Club and Matrix are great for features. That almost goes without saying as pretty much everyone has these discs.

Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker is great. It's full of extras and stuff. The episodes disc is great too since it's got 6 episodes and some features. I'm a fan of anything that just fills up the disc with lots of stuff. It pisses me off when a show puts 2 or 3 eps on a disc. So stuff like Fushigi Yugi, Street Fighter 2 V, Utena, Key the Metal Idol or Captain Harlock are just great discs since they all do 6 or 7 eps per disc.

As far as bad DVDs go the Secret of Nimh comes to mind. Any movie you take home, open and then read off the back that's it's a pan and scan version is just a total kick in the nuts.

Same thing goes for the DVDs of Hair, and Titanic. Since I have a 4:3 television and the film came up letterboxed on my screen, I assumed it was anamorphic widescreen, letterboxed on my television for my cinematic pleasure. Lo and behold -- when I ripped a chapter, the thing is 4:3 on the disc, letterboxed. I could have just bought the VHS for that crap.
