  1. I would like to convert some Quicktime files to MPEG-1's, then burn them to a VCD. I tried using Sparkle to convert the QT's, but I can't seem to get the audio to stay, but video runs fine. What software do I need to convert the QT's, and what do I need to author a VCD on a Mac?
(I've considered Quicktime 6 Pro and Roxio Toast 4 or 5 to help me...)

I have a 300Mhz (Blueberry) ibook w/ OS 9.1, 320MB RAM, iomega predator CD burner, and a limited budget...

Also, is it possible to make a menu to select video tracks when running in a DVD player.

    Thanks for your help!

  2. Sorry, i just edited my inital post... I only have Mac OS 9.1. I considered getting X, but I only have 2 gigs left & didn't know if I'd be clogging up the HD, esp. since I want to dump some videos on there to produce the VCD's.

  3. It sounds like you are very short on space. It might be time to clear out your drive

The decoders/encoders use 'scratch disk" space reducing the available space on your HD.

Also if you fill your HD competely you could create corruption and lose your drive !

Here is a link to a VCD tutorial on VCD help : http://forum.vcdhelp.com/userguides/85069.php

And yes you can create menu's but I don't know what you would use w OS9. There are a few options if you are using X.
    Maybe someone else does ?

    That's my 2 cents.

  4. I do believe that the most suitable solution for you would be ToastTitanium and QuicktimePro (no matter which version).

With your configuration encoding will take quiet a lot of time, so if you want to get a reasonable result without wasting to much lifetime, just choose this. Just VCD 1.0, no menus, but itīs simple and works like a charm.

After installing ToastTitanium and QTPro you will be able to open a movie and export it to ToastVideoCD (or just choose VideoCD in Toast and drop an .mpg onto it).

If you d/led the movie somewhere, this will probally not work in all cases.
In some cases Toast will reject the file and tell you to "..choose the VCD-option in your multiplexer.." . You may fix some of them using "VCDGear" (Versiontracker, freeware, rtfm!)

    have funn :-)

  5. sparkle doesn't support audio, thats why your mpegs end up comming out with none.
