  1. I am a newbie to VCD & this forum; but both sound like great ideas. I want to convert a series of JPG stills into a slideshow on a VCD. Is this possible?

  2. Yes it's possible...
Here's one way I've done it.
    Convert jpg's to bmp's
Use Videowave II to slap the bmp's together, with various transitions.
    Add a wav soundtrack.
Save the whole thing as an avi
use TMPGenc to encode to VCD compliant mpg
    burn it to CD.

I'm sure the Virtualdub users can tell you how to do it with Virtualdub. The trick is using your
video editing software (and there are a lot of them) to put the pics together into an avi.
Then it's just like any other avi.

    1) I have been unable to find a DL site for a demo WinOnCD; 2) from their website, it appears the vendor cannot/will not sell in U.S.

I've seen another product called Nero Burns ROM, but it appears to be inferior

nero is not inferior. and you can get it legally.

with nero, all you have to do is drap and drop the indivdual pics and hit burn.

nero encodes the pictures and changes their resolution automatically.

    note;

some dvd players must have menu enabled and pbc on to 'see' the segment folder.

  6. WinOnCD 3.8 is undoubtedly better for slideshow VCDs than Nero.

Also, Nero doesn't not author the PBC for menus in a very intellegent way and this can lead to play back anomalies on some hardware players, and especially on software players.
