  1. Hi!

I've been trying to Capture on a PC from a VHS VCR and at the same time Compress the Video so I can later Convert it to VCD.

I tried to use the DivX 5.0 and 3.11 Alpha Codecs (Low Motion) but I choose it and it keeps capturing big size (like 3MB per min.).

I even formatted my PC and re-installed everything but nothing happens!!!

Can somebody tell me how to do it right?

    This is what I do:

    1- I open Virtual Dub.
2- I go to Video/Compression/and Choose the Low Motion Codec.
3-I go to File/Capture AVI/Video/Compression and Choose the same Codec. (I choose it also on Compression Compatibility from the same Video Menu).
4- I play the VHS tape and start Capturing (Capture/Capture Video).

I don't change anything else I'm kinda new at this.

A few months ago, I captured from a CamCorder using the same Hardware and Software but I don't recall how I did it.

    My OS is WindowsME.

    What am I doing wrong???

    Thanks in advance!!!

  2. 3 megs a minute isn't that much, but if you want to make it smaller once you select your codec, hit the configure button (maybe it's options) and the divx configuration will come up. There is a slider that lets you select the amount of compression you want to use.
