Bad audio out of DVDSP's A.Pack

I've just bought a new G4. Got QTPro, FCP3 and DVDSP1.5 installed.
From QTPro, I export my movie as MPEG2, giving MV2 and AIFF files. I'm dropping the AIFF into A.Pack (using L & R chs), using 2.0 settings, but when I listen to the resulting AC3 file, the audio is slow, and at a reduced volume.
Anyone had a similar problem? Anyone got a solution?

Try:
- compressing at a higher bitrate, like 384kbps
- selecting "film light compression"
- dropping your aiff file into Jam, bumping up the mix volume, save as disc image, rip the track back to aiff via iTunes, compress new aiff in A.Pack
