I tried ripping one of the DVD from my personal collection and the resulting VCD is as best as I can describe it "stretched" vertically. The bars at the top and bottom are narrower thus resulting in a distorted picture. I followed Sefy's newbie guide but this was the result. Nero did give me a warning about the VCD being non-compliant but I didn't know what to do about it so I just burned it anyway. I am hoping one of you guys can help me out. Thanks.

This just means the picture wasnt resized properly during the encode. I get that a lot when I encode ripped DVDs that are not fullscreen at 16:9, but still are letterboxed on a full 16:9 screen.
Sometimes telling TMPGEnc your source is 1:1 works; sometimes telling it your source is actually 4:3 w/ 525 lines works in conjunction with Fit to frame (Keep aspect). Sometimes you have to play around with those settings, then PREVIEW, PREVIEW, PREVIEW, before you set it off to encode for the next several hours.
Save yourself some time, save yourself from another coaster! (BTW, are landfills overflowing with unwanted burned CDs? -- We could be creating the new environmental hazard for the twenty-first century!)
