I downloaded spiderman dvdrip (divx) and i played it and everything is fine, audio is in sync..
but when I load it in virtualdub i get this message:
---
Virtualdub has detected an improper VBR encording in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 3679 ms of skew from the video screen. If this is unaccapteble, decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 157.7 ± 13.9kbps)
---
then when I play it in virtualdub its indeed out of sync.. dont get that as i have no problems before loading it in virtualdub.
I want to make an xvcd out of it so I used the avi as both audio and video rescource in tmpgenc and converted as i always do.. but I have NO sound at all!
So i thought I'd go back to virtualdub and fix the skew by :
Audio> Interleaving> Delay oudio track by 3679 ms then I made a WAV of it as described in the guides here.
So then i converted again with the avi as video source and the wav as audio source.. its a bit better but still out of sync..
how the hell can this be? the original file is ok! i know tmpgenc is not to good at audio but virtualdub is.. btw i had the same with memento too and that also was not out of sync if you dont play it in virtualdub..
and how do i fix this? dont think divxfix will help cause it didnt help with memento either cause it didnt found anything..

OPen in vdub file/save as wav
Then specify the .wav file as audio and .avi as video in TMPGenc. -
hmm thnx that worked.. but if I use the avi as video and the wav was audio without changing it then whyyy is it out of sync in virtualdub.. just an bug?

Sometimes you can also save out the audio uncompressed, then use that in Vdub while the video is still set at streaming, but 1 junk frame will cause lip sync
