    would like to burn it to to a DVD-R with my DVD burner, can some one please tell me the best way to do this, there seem to be so many

    The best way to do this is the one that works for you!

    No, seriously, this is not a cop-out. As you say, there are several methods described in guides on this site and elsewhere. I would suggest you start with the one that looks simplest to you and go from there.
