    Hey.

I've been ripping DVDs to SVCD with good results so far. But now I want to do something new.

Is there a way to rip to .vob files from a DVD, extract only one or two audio tracks, one subtitle, lower the audio and video bitrates to SVCD values and then create a DVD directory estructure and burn it to two CD-R or CD-RW?

This way maybe we could also keep the dolby digital sound encoding...

Is this possible? Has anyone tried this?

    Any ideas?

That's essentially a mini-DVD (check the howto sections and the forums) but most DVD players will not play it - it's a pc thing. Most DVD players expect DVD media on DVD discs.

Also, that's a lot of work and the quality won't be very good unless you have a very short video. Typically mini-dvd's hold about 25 minutes unless you drop the bitrate a lot or re-encode to 1/2 D1 resolution (and then I think it has to be mpeg 1... so it's just like a VCD).
