Dudes, I have a sony DVP-S535D DVD player, I know about CD-R probs with this model and soughted it through getting the correct coloured CDRs (princo) about a year ago and since made hundreds of music, vcd and svcd CDs all that play no problem.(also CD-RW)
Past week or so some of these music cds have stopped playing, coming up with the NO-CD message on the display, they are clean, play on other players no probs etc.
My real question is that all my original music CDs all come on different flavours of disk, colours etc and all play no problem, how can the player have problems with normal CDRs since it can play normal originals in all there different flavours?
Im not after a exact answer I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas or tips about this or have they encounted this themselves.
    Cheers Dave
ps. I do love my sony and will stick with it for all you sony bashers
Welcome my son, welcome to the machine.

It sounds like it's just your DVD player that has problems; especially since it seems to be so picky about the type of CDR media it plays.
The reason that your 'original' music CDs play is because they are manufactured differently: pressed instead of burned - the 'pits' (non-reflective area) and 'lands' (reflective area) that the pick-up laser reads to make up the binary data stream are more precise and easier to read.
    You can't fool me, I'm a moron!
