  1. I just purchased a Sony DVP-NC655P 5-disc DVD player. I noticed it does NOT support my SVCD menus. It displays the menu's correctly, but when I use the number keys to select a chapter in the menu, it actually loads the disc track with that number, which is usually not the same as the menu chapter (most of the time off by one, as the menu uses track 1, chapter 1 uses track 2 etc.). Also, the Return key does not work, so the only way to reload my menu is to Stop and Star the disc.

I also have a Pioneer DV-C503 5-disc DVD player that handles my SVCD menus just nicely...any ideas why the Sony does not?

    Annoyed...

I have never seen a Sony that supported SVCD menus. Although I have owned a Pioneer and a Sony...and the Sony played the SVCDs MUCH better than the Pioneer-but they had to be on CD-RWs, so I went out and bought an Apex. Now the new Apex models don't support SVCD OR VCD. So I guess it is back to Pioneer. Although the newer Sonys supposedly support CD-R, so maybe I will jump back into their camp...who knows
    End of Line.
