hi i am downloading windtalkers film and its 527meg ith a resolution of 352x240 avi.when i open in tmpgenc the source ratio says it is 4:3 525 lines(ntsc 704x480).is there any advantage disadvantage in this format and is there any settings extra needed when converting to vcd?i havnt opened it in virtual dub just yet for file info as its still downloading.i did try short clip in tmpgenc for info and try pic quality. thanks

Most of the time this resolution (352x240) is a NTSC format, but sometime d/l files encode at 25fps, which is PAL format. So you have to check both resolution and frame rate. You can check both with TMPGenc and Vitua-dub.
Anyway if you see a conflict ie (res = NTSC, but frame rate = PAL), I would suggest you encode with setting of resolution which is NTSC in this case.
You said that this file is in avi, so you can convert to either VCD or SVCD depends on what your player can play. You don't need any extra setting just choose the right template (VCD or SVCD, NTSC or PAL), that is all.
