  1. Ok, here's what im (unsuccessfully) trying to do. I want to capture video from tv using my tv card (pinnacle pctv studio rave), then burn it to vcd (on cdrw preferably)to watch on my dvd player (panasonic dvd-rv31). Basically i want to get rid of my vcr, so i dont want to have to edit and convert loads before getting it onto cd because ill be using it a lot.
Currently, i am using cineplayer DVR to capture directly to mpeg but i am having some problems. I set it up to a size nero recommends 352x288 and vcd bitrate. It captures fine, and the resulting mpeg plays fine in media player. So, i whack it into nero (latest version)and it doesnt complain at all about format, size etc. So, once the disc has burned i stick it into the player, it recognises it an begins to play. This is where results are mixed. I managed to capture about half an hour of vid and when it played, i thought it worked fine, but about 5 mins into it, the video breaks up and slows down with lots of interference.Others i have made with the same setting have been extremely slow all the way through.
It was suggested to me that it could be the hard disk. The HD was new 2 days ago, and it is a WD 20gig 5400rpm drive as the master. I also have a fujitsu 8gb as the slave (havent tried recording to that one yet.) The cpu is a p3 coppermine 667, 256mb ram, tnt2 pro graphics... the usual. If anyone can suggest a better way fo doin gthis or point me in the right direction, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Ok, I think it's a problem with the MPEG-Stream. Try the following: Demultiplex with some tool (tmpegenc, ..) and multiplax again as VCD. This can help a lot and doesn't take much time.

I don't think it's anything with the harddisk, just be sure DMA is enabled. VCd-Stream write approx. 170KB/s onto disc, so the throughput of the disc is really and absolutely no problem (it's the same with recording audio, 2 channel, 44.1KHz, 16 Bit).

Just try re-multiplexing and then you may have success.
