Are there names/brands that are better when buying DVD-r's to burn (or brands to avoid?). Also, can anyone suggest any on line sites that are reliable?
Any help is appreciated.

good question. i have bought 2 or three brands i have purchased the meritline cheapies and they do work on my standalone fine. i get errors frequently withthem though and to make a long story short i no longer buy any cheapies,
i sell concert bootleg on ebay and the brand i use that never gets an error and seems to be most compatible in assortment of players is memorex.
i get these at buy.com for around 4 bux a piece they are dependable . -
try using datasafe, eproformance or white label dvd-r. i tried bulkpaq and they were shit. you can get these from www.blankdiscshop.co.uk or www.bigpockets.co.uk . i have burnt a 4 gig movie on these and the playback is spot on. try www.mediaforums.net for test reviews of dvd media
