whats the best and quickest way to rip and burn avi to dvdr

i have 4 avi films and wanted to put them all onto 1 dvdr so i can play it in a standard dvd player,

well what the best method of doing this

i.e

best program to rip the avi to mpeg?
the best way and quickest?

also will the quality be the same
