  1. I'm an advanced computer user but new to the world of dvd ripping etc. I want to know of some good software for turning dvds to burned vcd's that I can still play in my dvd player. (it is vcd compatible) What do you use?

    Any help would be great Thanks.

  4. Very simple way:

    DVD Decrypter or Smart Ripper to rip the DVD to your HDD
    Flaskmpeg
    bbMPEG or Panasonic encoder plugin

    Works like a charm, does subtitles very well.

    I used "Sefy's" newbie guide, and made TONS of great VCDs using KVCD templates (for TMPGEnc).

    Smartripper -> DVD2AVI -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    All great freeware. All explained in Sefy's guide.

    Go to KVCD.net for the TMPGEnc templates, they make all the difference when you want the vcd to look like the original.
