  1. I want to transfer home based footage from my MiniDV camera to DVD-R...I've tried everything with bad results. Can someone suggest a sure fire formula to making this work nice.

I'm using a Windows XP Pro machine with a Pioneer DVR-104. I've tried Vegas Pro 3.0, Adobe Premier, DVD Workshop with nasty results ..eeeckkk! I know it all in the settings, but unfortunately my background is graphic design not video production.

    HELP!

    Thanks.

  2. Is the video choppy when played back on your PC or your DVD player? I too have suspected big problems with some of my encoded files, only to find they play just fine on a set top DVD player.

I have a very similar setup (Win XP, Vegas Video 3, DVR-A04) and the default settings within VV3 provide some pretty decent results. Ditto for DVD WS.

  3. Are you staying with DV or converting to MJPG or Huffuyv or somthing first? I know that I tried to convert DV to MJPG to MPEG and that was a big no no. Now I know the beauty of DV I use that as my compression obviously. If for some reason you did this it may do that. IF no well, good luck.
Let's kik this pig in the rear and keep it squeelin from the feelin.

  4. When I play it on the PC, it seems fine. But it converts to make it a DVD, that's where (I think) the problem lies. Then again I could be wrong.

Can you guy step me thru how you guys do it?

  5. Go here:

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgencdvd.htm

Read the entire page on how to create a DVD-compliant MPEG2.

After creating your MPEG2 with TMPGEnc, import the new MPEG2 into DVD Workshop and burn your DVD from there.

BTW, what app are you using to capture the MiniDV footage?

  7. Again, you have the wrong field order. Select the other field order in the mpeg encoder.
