  1. Hello!

I am fairly new to Video CD. I am using TMPGEnc and have converted an avi file to MPEG1. When I did that though was I supposed to save directly to CD-R/RW? Or to Hard Drive first and then burn it later?

Also, can I burn it on a CD/RW Disc? Or does it have to be CD-R?

    Cheers for any help

  2. You encode (convert to hard drive) to mpeg1 file, and then you use a burning program to burn it on to disk. VCDEasy is a good one, and there is a guide to the left that tells you how. As to your second question, check to see if your dvd player supports cd-rw, and if it does you will be able to burn your mpeg1 file to cd-rw.

  3. Cheers mate.

I've got VCDEasy, but I have another slight problem now.

The TMPGEnc program didn't work when I tried to convert avi to mpeg1.
The file is all black and distorted with no picture.

I have all the DixX codecs required as well as the Nimo one, but it doesn't seem to work, and changing the priorities of DirectShow has no effect either.

Do you know of any other (better) programs for converting avi to mpeg1?

    Thanks again for any help

  4. Was the file alright before you tried to convert it? On the left under tools there are other encoders, CCE is a good one, but it is not free.
