What is a newsgroup

I was wondering if some one could explain to me what is a newsgroup and how I can find one to share files.

goto google and search for xnews. it does not supply the newgroups but makes it very very easy to navigate through them. aka * download and upload* check to see if your isp provides a newgroup account and see if they have limits or restrictions if they do you may have to find some free newgroup access. or pay to get good one. my isp provides newgruop service with no limits or restrictions to certain groups. once you get a taste you will love it.
