  2. 100% DVD quality? Don't convert to Divx.

Do a search on the web or in the forums or even look at the guides on Doom9.net for ways to get close to DVD as you can get (yes it will look great).

  3. DivX (or any MPEG-4 codec) is a lossy encoding system. You are not going to get 100% quality from the original.

I'm sure if you bump up the bitrate high enough you will get close to that but then you will have a multi-Gb file...

  4. Its to the point now you can use Mpeg4 (DivX5.02 Pro, Nandub and XviD), RealVideo9 and SVCD(mpeg2) and have great quality if you know what your doing. And sometime next month M$ will release WMV9 aka Corona

If you cant learn how to do it and your reading and using the guides here at vcdhelp and at doom9's then you will never learn......

  5. 99.999999% isn't 100%. Close, but not the same thing.

  6. Hmmm,

I guess if you encode the DivX at the same bitrate of the original DVD you'll end up with a pretty darn good DivX. While at it, you can do the AC3 sounds as well. Just burn it on an empty DVD-R and voila a perfect DivX rip

How would you tell if it was 100% or 99% ?

I have plenty of DivX downloads that are "as good"
While watching them, it would be very hard to tell the difference

Those are DVD rips, convert to something else and the quality will drop a little more.

    Even DVD's are not 100%
