The White book specification is quite wide, and you probably not need to use everything specified. For example it says its 75 Min (650 Mb) so using a 80 Minuet disk, straight away means its not spot on.

For most DVD players that play VCD, you would only need to use a standard template to produce the mpeg.

In TMPGEnc your can load 2 types of VCD templates PAL or NTSC, this will produce an mpeg 1 that the vast majority of DVD players (that play CDR VCD) will work just fine. In some cases having loaded a template, you may still need to tweak something for it to work with your player.

TMPGEnc > load > template > VCD (PAL or NTSC)

  4. Can your Sony play CD-Rs? A lot of Sony's players can play CD-RWs but not CD-Rs. Is your player listed in the DVD section?
Take it easy. And if its easy take it twice.

Yes they are referring to commercial VCD's, ones that have been pressed, not ones that have been made on a PC, these are CDR-VCD
