  1. I have had ZERO luck with any vcd...

I'm using tmpgenc to change avi's to mpeg ones. The files look great when played on the computer.

I burn the cd's using Sony's CD Extreme, and recently Nero 5.5.

Nothing works on my DVD player (which does play VCDs suppposedly), or a friends DVD player either.

The DVD player thinks the disk is an audio CD... the programs clocks ticks away the exact length of the tests files
I made, but no sound, or video, just the blue screen on the TV.

I've tried following the guides (but not your yet), and burned about 10 test cds using Memorex 700 mb CD-Rs
    with ZERO success.

I must be doing something fundamentally wrong but can't figure out what it is....

    Help!

  2. Are you actually burning as a VCD or are you just burning the mpeg files to disc as data.

The vcd's you burn should have directories in them named

    cdi
    ext
mpegav (this is where the dat file is that has the video)
    segment
    vcd

  3. Yup, those 4 files are there, and the .dat files that are the same size as the original mpeg files are in the mpegav file also.

I'm using Windows 2000 if that makes a difference.

I've tried this using CD Extreme by Sony with same problem...

There must be something I"m doing that is fundamentally wrong.

could it be the Memorex CDs? They work for data and audio just fine. They even play audio on the dvd player I'm testing with (the dvd player is vcd compatible).

i've followed the guides exactly, and did some experimenting, and never saw any results... even messed up one....

The counter on the dvd is ticking off the test files, so it's reading SOMETHING.....

    Any other ideas?
