I capture using my sony minidv trv25 using videostudio 6. This program will only capture type 1 avi which is incompatible with CCE. When I try to convert this avi to another codec and use CCE to create a SVCD I get an invalid stream message in NERO. I then turn off standard compliance and burn it anyway but the video will not play on dvd player. I have burned svcds with tmpenc with no problem. I have heard about how good CCE is to burn SVCDs and I want to be able to do this. Can someone give me some simple instructions. I think it has to do with separating the type 1 video and audio using another program but I am not clear about the details.
    Any help

  2. Did you try frameserving with VDub? This may help. If VDub can recognize the AVI file then it should be able to work.

AFAIK you use ccesp 2.50, so you can not open type1 DV directly, but you can frameserve to cce with Avisynth or Vdub.
CCE can not create a SVCD, only the MPEG video (and audio).
But that MPEG system stream is not SVCD compliant due to the wrong packet size. CCEsp2.64 comes with a svcd option, but I still do not recommend it, because that SVCD mode (system stream) does not allow VBR encoding.
If you don't like to frameserve you will probably find a DV file type1 -> type2 converter.

Sorry for the ignorance. Really. I really do not know anything about frameserving. I want to be able to make an SVCD using CCE. How do I go about frameserving. What will frameserving accomplish. Do I do this with the original type 1 avi file. I can create another avi file with a different codec but I still get the same results using CCE. Can you please elaborate a little. Thanks.

  5. Go here http://doom9.org/mpg/cce.htm this guide is for converting DVDs but you can use it just skip down to frameserving and go on from there. And when you are saving the .vdr file you may have to type the extension in for it to work because that is what I have to do. Hope this helps.

I really was looking for an easier way. Is there an easier way to make a svcd from a type 1 avi using cce without frameserving. If it is going to be that complicated I am just going to stick with tmpgenc.

search for and try "ReStream" and use the instructions with it. it can fix corrupt headers sometimes caused by a "patched" version of cce. if you can just use dvd2svcd
