VCDeasy and tscv will do menus for vcd. but you cant make menues with buttons. you'll have to use the remote nr buttons to navigate.

You can simulate the function of buttons though. For instance say your menu has two buttons. Make two separate pics one with each button highlighted. Then when you author the menu's have it so the next button takes you to the pic with the second button highlighted. And on this menu have the previous button take you back the first pic. This way you use the next and prev buttons on your remote like navigational buttons. Use the enter key to define what option you want that "button" to take you to.

You actually can do real buttons in a vcd or svcd. They are called hotspots but they will only work on a pc software player or on a CD-I player but these don't support SVCDS.

Vcdeasy and TSCV are both gui's for vcdimager and they will work but I personally find their layout and capabilies incredibly limiting and the programs themselves very buggy, though vcdimager itself can do just about anything. For vcd menu authoring you can't beat Video Pack 4 or maybe the latest version of WinonCD. For SVCD authoring I-Author is by far the best.

  5. Strongly suggest you learn to use VCDImager...

VCD Easy is a reasonably good GUI to start off with.

  6. I just bought Pinnacle Studio 8 and it makes really nice menus with buttons, thumbnails or even moving video thumbnails. If you do a search for my name you can see more comments on Studio 8.

  7. It should be mentioned again that S/VCDs don't support clickable buttons (read adam's caveat on CD-i players for VCD) nor cursor (arrow) key presses like a DVD. Thus, these features CAN'T be part of the feature set of a S/VCD authoring program.

  8. Presumably clickable buttons are supported in the DVD-R format. What is the best software in your opinions for authoring DVD-R with professional looking menus.
