I want to capture some vhs tapes with a high quality capture card and a good vcr. What I want to know is,... do the resolution of my tv has any effect on the quality of the captures? I have a Sony Trinitron 27" TV (model: KV-27V10) and the picture is pretty good.

If capturing from the VCR, the television is irrelevant, and doesn't even need to be there at all.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
