  1. is it possible to load up avi files with flaskmpeg..to convert from avi to svcd..

  3. Normally, you use flask to read VOB/IFO files,
    to downconvert the audio of a dvd source
    from 48 khz to 44khz (since tmpg is notoriously
    bad at that) and (optionally) to re-size the frame to
    480x480 or 352x480 (or whatever else you want)
    since it's marginally faster than tmpg at doing this.

    There's no need to open avi files in flask
    since tmpg will read them directly and the
    audio sampling rate is usually not 48khz.
    If the audio sampling rate is out of spec
    for an svcd, you can either a) live with the
    little stutters and pops that tmpg sometimes
    creates or b) use an external sudio encoder
    (I'm pretty sure there's a howto for that
    on this site)
