If you burn it on a DVD and want to play it in your standalone...then you might enconter a problem.
A DVD should have the resolution of 720x576 or 352x576. An SVCD has a resolution of 480x576.
(for the ones on the edge of the world: replace 576 by 480)

Not all players support the SVCD format when A DVD format is required. You can try if it works on you player, but...if it plays fine on your player, and you will ever replace it by another one; then you can have a problem. (or if you want to watch your movie at your friends place)

Before burning, you have to author the Mpeg files to DVD.

If you are using the 720x576 resolution and the standard bitrates: yes.

If you are using 352x576 resolution (this is a CVD resolution, but should be DVD compatible) then you should be able to store 4 hours in decent quality.

CVD has less quality as DVD, but is quite accepable.
