dv to dvd

Hi I just got a samsung digital camera anda dvd burner. I am trying to figure out how to get the dv to my dvd and view it on my home dv player. If anyone nows any good software for this (preferably free) and an help you can give me on formats etc.

Do you have a dv/firewire card? so you can copy the dv to your pc?
If so it is fairly simple
Copy the dv to your hd
Install a dv codec www.vcdhelp.com/tools#codec
Encode to mpeg dvd2 with for example tmpgenc www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgencdvd.htm
Author and burn to dvd www.vcdhelp.com/author#dvd

Or you could use a all-in-tool like ulead workshop to encode, author and burn in same application.
