  1. Obviously, you cannot play DVD's without a DVD ROM but is it possible to rip DVD's without a DVD ROM can I just get some codecs or something??

  2. Nope...to rip a DVD you need a DVD rom. Don't buy those fake programs that say they can give you a program that will let you rip DVDs w/a regular CDburner or CDrom. I saw someone selling something like that on eBay once. No way around it, to rip a DVD you need a DVD rom.

  4. you can Capture a DVD using a TV-in card (bought one for 30 bucks on sale at bestbuy a while ago) The quality is a lot lower but not horrible and mine freezed a lot and i couldnt capture higher then 352X240 or it gave me weird lines. Its accually a lot cheaper to buy a DVD-rom (50 bucks or so) and rip it. Just riped my first DVD today and its a lot easier without much problems and looks a heck of a lot better. (oh if you want to cap you need a DVD stand alone player a TV-in card and the Divx codec)
