I just resently purchased a dvd-rom (pioneer) and it is working great as far as reading data from it, but I can't get it to play a movie. I haven't been able to get my hands on a desent dvd software yet but when I start DVDPLAY in win 2000 I get a long message saying:
******************
While setting up DVD-video playback, it was found that
video cannotbe shown on the computer monitor becuase of one of the following reasons:
a) Low video memory. pease try using lower display resolution and or colors
b) another application is currently using the necessary display resources. please ensure tat no such application isrunning
c) the display adapter is incompatible with the dvd decoder.please obtain display driver update
**************************

Now I first tried lowering my resolution and colors to the lowest I could go...and that didn't work
I am not running any program's at all really so it's not drainning my video memory
and I don't have a decoder card (I don't need one to see video I am pretty sure...if I do..well then I found the problem)

after that didn't work I decided to take out my older 16 mb video card and popped in a ATI Rage Fury 128 with 32 mb of ram that I had laying around... Well got it up and running with the newest drivers downloaded off the net, and still gave me the same message

any idea's?? I have absolutely no idea, unless dvdplay just sucks and doesn't like me and other programs will work when I get them eventually

any tips will greatly help
thanks
