  1. Well who knew making a VCD could be so hard....I didn't!

    I'll start from the top.

I d/l an avi. file and decided that I wanted to watch it full screen on my T.V. So I d/l TMPGEnc and followed some guide on a site. I picked all the right options that were appropriate for the video file and began to encode into a VCD MPEG. After about an hour, I got from my couch to see that there was a second left and then a MotherF@#$*!% error pops up! I tried to say ok and I eventually forced it to finish. I checked the file's properties and everything seemed fine. But when I played it nothing came up. No video, no sound. I tried to burn it as if nothing happened and put in my DVD player and it said cd error and now I'm pissed.

If anyone could help, I would appreciate it.

My DVD player is compatible with VCD's....I think...heh heh

Generaly if TMPG hangs somewhere and stops on its own accord ....the file done so far is fine.
If you have to ctrl-alt-delete to get out file is usally lost....
If it hangs it is usually a prob with source file....If it goes 99 minute and 15 seconds and hangs then set TMPG to only encode the first 99 min and 14 sec...then encode another segment begining at 99:16 and join em up later......or get a better source file.
Also you generaly have to be able to play the file on your pc before you can expect it to work as a VCD.

The gurus will need some particulars, to start. Fill out your computer profile, list the programs you were using, along with the settings.
    Hello.
