Sorry but could you tell me what exactly an ISO is?

ISO refers to a standard used or some some proprietary format, however most people refer to an ISO when it is one large file containing the exact copy of a disk. When used by burning software, it will re-create the disk as the author intended.
If an ISO was made of a VCD, it would contain the movie and any menu etc, using the ISO would make the disk.
An ISO buster, could be used to extract the data without having to make the disk
