Hi, I just installed a Pioneer AO4 DVD-R/RW in my computer and the software that comes with it (Sonic myDVD Video Suite) won't open at all. I click the icon and a little hour glass shows up for about 4 seconds and then nothing happens. So I installed NERO Burning Rom and tried to burn a DVD and it just gives me an error message that says "VIDEO_TS.IFO and VIDEO_TS.BUP are not present". I just want to burn a DVD but it seems that so far my expensive DVD burner is just a glorified paper weight. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Are there any foolproof DVD burner softwares I can get?

Use the Nero 5.5.9.0.
I will definitely work. My Pioneer DVR104 works fine.
I had a version 5.5.2.1 before and it was not supporting this drive.
As soon as I upgraded to the latest version everything is ok.
Also, if you got some DVD authoring/burning software try to go
to the software manufacturer site and get the latest updates. I also frustrated for one day trying to get my DVD burner to work, but after reading a post and recommendations on using Nero I solved all my problems. I am using Ulead DVD movie factory and it makes DVD folders for my project. After that I am writing these folders to the DVD-R/RW
as plain data. Resulting disk plays on DVD player with no problem and
2 level menus with music. Highly recommend Ulead, because of its simplicity. Trial version is for 30 days from their website.
Good luck -
Thanks for your reply, I did manage to burn a dvd using Ulead DVD workshop. I'm still have a small problem to work out, when I convert an avi to mpeg2 and then burn it to dvd I lose the audio. I'm not sure in what step its getting lost but I'm sure I'll track it down.

Download smartripper and launch It.Once there select backup, which shows all the files contained on the DVD.Once you select the target at the bottom to specify where you'll save too,the start tab will show up afterwards.Press start to begin ripping. It should copy the DVD into a file in whereever you wanted It saved.
Then once copied, start nero up,select DVD-video.Then click new and locate the file where the DVD was copied.Open It up and highlight everything in the folder, then drag It all to the red Video_TS folder.Leave the audio one alone. Then all you do is open the write dialog box up and click write. It should make a backup of the DVD,unless It's one that's bigger than 4.7GB.
